I purchased the Wreath of Blooms Kit awhile back…

knowing I wanted to change it up and create something different with the kit contents. With Easter around the corner and Spring in the air, I was finally inspired. I put together some simple baskets thanks to a video from Inky Hands Warm Hearts. And I used the flowers from the kit for my basket decorations.

I pinned a few other creative ideas on my Kits Collection Pinterest Board, too if you want to check them out.
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
- Basket base cardstock/designer paper
- 12″ x 12″ scored in at 4″ on each of the 4 sides
- Basket trim
- Two connected 3/4” x 8-1/2″ strips overlapping in the middle about 1/2″
- Basket handle
- Two connected 1” x 8-1/2″ strips overlapping in the middle about 1/2″
- Reinforcement cardstock for the bottom inside of the basket (optional, but I added this on the inside of my basket made from designer paper)
- <4″ x <4″ (and I also added a <3-7/8″ x <3-7/8″ of designer paper from one of the cut corners of the basket base)
Directions
- Watch the video by Inky Hands Warm Hearts to see her tips and directions for assembling the basket. She uses 6×6 paper. But I doubled all her measurements to make larger baskets. So use my measurements when putting this basket together if you want yours to look like mine. If making the navy basket, emboss the four basket sides before assembling (the trick is to fold the side flaps inward then only roll the flap that is getting embossed in through the rollers of the machine and then back out again). And keep in mind, after scoring the basket base piece and cutting out the four corners so your base looks like and x, save a corner if you want to use it for a reinforcement layer on the inside bottom. My baskets turned out to be approximately 4″ x 4″ x 4″ (not including the handle height).
- After adding the basket trim and handles, then add the flowers from the kit with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Dimensionals (or a hot glue gun). To learn how to assemble the kit flowers, watch Stampin’ Up!’s how-to video for this kit. You’ll notice that I created a few Blackberry Bliss flowers of my own each made from two punched out sunflowers and a gold Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dot for the center. I also trimmed up some of the leaves and stems from the kit to spread them out and allow them to embellish more flowers.

(I decorated two baskets with one kit and still have the yellow 3D flower, the twine, and the wreath frame leftover.)
- Add some shreddies and some treats or a gift. And you are all set for giving your basket to someone special.

With this larger size basket, you may want to reinforce the bottom with layers of cardstock and/or designer paper especially the one made from the thinner weight designer paper.

An added bonus of using designer paper is the decoration is already done on both the outside AND inside for you. No need to stamp or emboss.

Thanks for stopping by. Which basket was your favorite? Would you use these for Easter? I’m thinking these would even make great May Day baskets. Other ideas? List them below in the comments.
