I love altering card and project kits to see if I can double or even triple the intended outcome. Our Tag Buffet Project Kit is marketed as being able to produce 30 stunning seasonal gift tags (5 of 6 designs). These tags have 4 layers each and really are quite beautiful while still being easy to put together. But when you factor in that you need to purchase the coordinating Tag Buffet Stamp Set (and even have on hand suggested inks and adhesives) to make the tags as is, it is hard to justify those tags costing $1.60 each. And I’m not counting tax and shipping or the inks and adhesives needed – just the kit and stamp set. But aren’t they pretty?
Last year I took the Joy of Giving Tag Kit (now retired) and turned the supplies for making 30 tags into 50 Christmas cards. So this year, I played around and discovered how to get 76 (AND…even up to 95) Christmas cards from this Tag Buffet kit. And not counting the tax, shipping, inks and adhesives, the cost per card turns out to be around $1.20 each. That’s it! Not bad, huh?
I just showed live on YouTube about an hour ago the tips and tricks for creating these cards and the details of supplies you’d need to create them. And now I’m sharing that video here in my blog post. Be sure to watch the video by clicking here (or you can just click on this image below if you are already on my blog post), scroll through the close-up photos that follow, check out the measurements & products list below, and then let me know if you have any questions.
I hope you enjoyed what I shared in this video. Below are measurements, close-up photos, and a product list for what I demonstrated. And then if you take those last sheets of designer paper and the leftover 5th set of tag pieces, you can make 19 more to get 95! Just remember to watch the video so you can see how I paired up the leftover pieces and papers since they will have to be matched up a little differently than these.

I watched your video late tonight (and early morning ?) to get more holiday card ideas. I was thrilled to see simple but lovely designs. My crafting buddy and I started making holiday cards last weekend. Your designs give me inspiration and I’ve been crafting a little bit every day. It’s so satisfying. Thanks for sharing your talents!
Glad you enjoyed this and were inspired, Linda. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. Instead of turning over the circles punched from the DSP I punched circles from our Whisper White cardstock. This left me circles of the beautiful DSP to use for additional cards. I also take extra sheets of DSP & cut narrow strips that are the full length or width of the card which I use to decorate the interior. I also cut narrow strips to corresponding measurements of the envelopes. I adhere the strips to either the front or the back. Although it takes additional time, I use dies or punches to cut out shapes from the DSP where the layered elements overlap.
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing Peggy.
Rachel just wanted to say I am one of your biggest fans. I’ve been following you from when you used to do videos of alternate Paper Pumpkin Projects. I enjoy your videos a great deal and thank you so much for sharing them with us.
I’m reaching out because I had a question I see that when you do our videos you gaggle between screens and I see you use a Mac Pro. How do you do it?! I have Mac Pro as well but need a little guidance on how to do the same of course if you don’t mind.
Thanks Emmy. Yes…I started out by only doing those videos. I’m still doing them for every kit. It’s amazing when I look back.
For many of my recent videos (esp. my lives) I use an app called switcher studio. It’s a complicated set up to learn. But if you go to their website they have instructional videos to help you.
