One of our favorite places to spend time in the summer is up at the cabin – my parents' lake place in Northern Minnesota. And this is where we are spending our week.
We brought the boys' bikes up, and yesterday they had a great time riding the hilly paths that connect our cabin to my two uncles' places.
Here is Nicholas, our 9-year-old.
And here is Luke, our 8-year-old.
Today the boys had Nerf Gun fights many times throughout the day in and outside the cabin. Dad joined in on one of them which made it even more exciting.
It was too cold to go swimming, but we walked down to the lake shortly before supper time to dip our feet in the water.
We let them bring their ipods with, and the boys taught me how to create in Minecraft. I've had the app on my phone for over a year, so they were pretty excited that I finally took the time to try it out tonight. I loved it and could see how addicting this game could be.
Because the temperatures were on the chilly side, we decided to follow dinner with a campfire and s'mores.
My parents, Bob and Margo.
My hubby and me.
Our boys, Luke and Nick.
But Nicholas (my oldest) burnt his fingers trying to help his Daddy get the marshmallows off the roasting sticks. So we all headed in to finish the day with some first aid, hugs, empathy, pain meds and a movie (for distraction from the pain). Everyone tried hard to help Nick feel better, but he went to bed tonight worried that he wouldn't be able to sleep.
I was going to post pictures of one of my cards today, but needed to hold and take care of my baby. (I'll attempt that post tomorrow instead.)
Here's to hoping that his young, healthy body will help him heal super fast. Burn injuries are not fun.
Looks like paradise! What a beautiful family! Sorry Nicholas burned his little fingers, fingers are so tender! Thanks for sharing those great pictures!
Thanks, Rita. I haven’t shared a stamping idea since last Friday. I’ve got quite a few ready to share, but my little man came first. I’ll try to get one posted today.
A magical place!! Hope your son is on the mend!
Thanks, d! He feels wonderful today. So I guess our first aid worked.
