I'm so excited to share this fun 3-D gift idea & matching card. All Stampin' Up! supplies used are listed at the bottom of this post and linked to my online store so you can easily purchase any you may need.
The products that are not from Stampin' Up! (the 4 oz. cups, lids, and spoons) can be found at Webstaurantstore.com.
Let's make the box! Here are the measurements you'll need to remember for the box base…
Start with a piece of card stock that is 8-1/2" x 6-1/2". Score it at 7/8" in on all four sides.
Then score again from one of the short ends at 3-3/8", 4-1/4" (half-way mark), and 5-1/8".
Insert it into your Stampin' Trimmer vertically and position at 3-1/4" (half-way mark the other direction). Then cut through the middle from the 3-3/8" to the 5-1/8" score lines…
…so it looks like this.
Next fold and trim as shown.
We now need to make the inner cut a bit wider. So fold your box base in half so you can access that inner cut.
Then take your Paper Snips and trim just to the right AND just to the left of that original cut line. Remove those strands of card stock.
Now your cut mark in the middle should be a bit wider. AND LOOK! Magically our card stock turned the color we want it to be!!!
Add Sticky Strip Adhesive to all the tabs. (Add more than what is shown in this photo, though. 2 strips would be ideal.)
The box is starting to take shape.
Add more Sticky Strip underneath and attach the two sections of the box together.
Now for the handle of the box. Here are the measurements you'll need to remember for the handle piece…
Start with a piece of card stock that is 5" x 11".
Score in from each end at 1-1/2" and in the middle at 5-1/2". Then rotate vertically and using your trimmer cut the 1-1/2" x 5" sections in half at 2-1/2".
As you did before, widen each of those cuts a bit.
And snip out those strands.
Now punch or die-cut a "handle. I folded my card stock in half and die-cut using one of the Word Bubbles Framelits. Be sure not to make your handle too close to the edge. Be at least 3/8" inches in to maintain strength when carrying filled cups.
Now add Sticky Strip where shown. Use SNAIL Adhesive elsewhere.
First fold your card stock in half to attach the middle sections together. But keep the four tabs out. These will attach to the box base.
In fact, after removing the backing on the Sticky Strip, hold them up and away from each other.
Release after inserting the handle section into the box base section.
And secure down. Yea!!! The box is made.
Here are the card base measurements. If you haven't noticed this is the leftover piece from when you made your box base.
Decorate your card. The layers of papers on this card measure…
- Designer Paper: 4" x 4-1/4"
- Colored Card Stock: 3-1/2" x 3-1/4"
- Early Espresso Card Stock: 3-1/4" x 3"
You'll need a full sheet of 12" x 12" Designer Paper for each box and card set you make. To wrap those cute cups, Deb Valder has made a pattern that you can download and use. Or you can take one of your cups, disassemble it, and trace it for your pattern.
My stamping friends joined me on Monday for this class. And we made our sets with various colors from the same set of designer paper – Sweet Sorbet. (By the way, you only have through March 31st to get your hands on this paper if you want it. It's a Sale-A-Bration FREE item that you can get with a $50 purchase.)
Here's the green set.
I used popsicle sticks inside the cups to change it up and show another way to embellish.
Here is the blue set. Do you like the word stamps I chose for this one?! 🙂
And then I inserted decorative paper straws into each cup.
I hope you enjoyed this photo tutorial. Now I want you all to go and…
