Card Sketches are great for inspiring card creations. But they can also influence other projects. I was inspired by a card sketch found on page 103 in Stampin’ Up!’s 2024-25 Annual Catalog for this scrapbook page layout. (It’s the tiny sketch shown just above the “I’m here for you” card featuring the girl and her teddy bear.) I stretched the horizontal strips, and added photos and accent areas nearby. But you can see that the design is still very similar to the original sketch.

Measurements
- Basic White Cardstock
- 12″ x 12″
- 11-3/4″ x 11-3/4″
- Scraps for stamping and fussy-cutting two sets of leaves
- Scraps for die-cutting 3-1/4″ diameter circle
- Thoughtful Designs Specialty Designer Paper
- Four different 3/8″ x 11-3/4″ strips
- Basic Black Cardstock
- Four pieces cut to 4” x 5-3/8”
- 3/4″ x 3″ strip for sentiment
- Smoky Slate Cardstock
- Four pieces cut to 3-7/8” x 5-1/4”
Directions
- Stamp the leaves image twice on the scraps and once on the die-cut circle (leaving room for the butterfly). Then stamp the butterfly. If you don’t trust yourself to line up the butterfly correctly, you could use a positioning tool or you could stamp the butterfly on a separate scrap of white to fussy-cut and add later.
- Color the leaves and butterfly with the Stampin’ Blends Markers. Then cut out the two branches of leaves.
- Position the black photo mat layers, designer paper strips and leaves on the 11-3/4″ x 11-3/4″ white. When everything looks balanced and lined up, take one piece at a time and secure it with adhesive. I added the end leaves on the top branch with Dimensionals so they lift off the page a bit. Trim off any excess branch pieces, then add this whole layer to the 12″ x 12″ Basic White layer using Dimensionals.
- Stamp (with VersaMark ink) and heat emboss (with white embossing powder) the ‘dear friend’ sentiment. Add the die-cut circle using Dimensionals. But be sure that the adhesive does not connect to the photo area and also allows room for the black strip.
- Slide in and adhere the black strip in place.
- Embellish here and there with Transparent Adhesive-Backed Dots.
- Then add the Smoky Slate photo mats and/or photos to finish off the page.
