I am so excited! Today several of us Stampin' Up! demonstrators are bringing to you a special blog hop. I just LOVE these kits, plus this month's kit was a super special one. It was designed by Stampin' Up!'s CEO, Sara Douglass. (Click here to see Sara's video where she shares how to make the intended cards from this kit.) I'm still working on several more ideas that I'll be sharing at a later date, but for today I want to share these K-Cup 3" cube gift boxes.
I was given a gift by my friend, Sue Dyas awhile back. She made something similar using different products and told me she got the idea from Erica Cerwin. So a big thanks to Sue and Erica for this clever K-Cup idea.
They are pretty simple to make. Here are the extra supplies that I used to make them (besides the contents of the April 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit):
- White Gift Boxes
- Big Shot
- Layering Circle Framelits
- Paper Trimmer
- 1/2" Circle Punch
- Crumb Cake Cardstock
- Melon Mambo Ink Pad
- Tear & Tape Adhesive
- chocolates and tissue paper (or other fillers for the bottom of the box)
This one is my more feminine version.
And this one is my masculine version. I figured my dad would rather get a blossoming doughnut than a flower on his box. AND…doughnuts go really well with coffee. 😉
(I'm sad that these gift boxes are retiring soon. That means that they won't be available after May 31st. But it also means that they could sell out any day beforehand if the supply is depleted beforehand.

These boxes are a good size and hold a lot! The clear sleeve slips off. And this is what I have inside. The K-Cup sits in the box cover, and underneath are some chocolates.
Our Layering Circle Framelits have a 1-7/8" diameter circle die the perfect size for the hole to hold the K-Cup. Die-cutting just the lid of this box can be tricky though. Here's how I did it. I put the bottom cutting mat only half-way on the Big Shot platform.
Then I positioned the unassembled/flattened box so that only the lid (the the circle die centered on it) was on the cutting mat. The rest of the box rested on the other half of the Big Shot platform (off the bottom cutting mat).
Then I put the top cutting mat on top of both the lid and the rest of the box (to protect the box) and I cranked it through the Big Shot.
Another tip is to adhere the 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" black paper to the lid before die-cutting the hole. I forgot to do that on my first one I made, but thankfully I was able to line up the box lid and the separately die-cut black paper afterwards. This is what the box looks like assembled. (You can peek inside to see how the bottom flaps go together.) Notice that the flaps under the lid are not showing?
That's because I stuck them to the inside walls of the box with super strong Tear & Tape Adhesive.
To make the doughnut embellishment, punch a 1/2" hole into the speckled paper from a portion of an envelope from the kit and from a scrap of Crumb Cake (or similar color) cardstock. Then die-cut a larger circle around these 1/2" holes using the 1-1/16" circle die.
I wanted to make the speckled paper a little more colorful to represent frosting with sprinkles. So I added more speckles using Melon Mambo ink.
By the way…The larger white circles are the ones that came from the boxes when I cut the lids. I stamped them and taped them (with Tear & Tape Adhesive) to to the tops of the K-Cups.
I trimmed the outside edge of the "frosting" piece so it was a bit more wavy. After all, frosting isn't usually on a doughnut in a perfect circle. Right?
After filling the inside of my boxes with tissue paper and chocolates,…
I closed the lids, slipped in the K-Cups…
and slid on the clear sleeves. Here are close-ups of the box with the flower accent.
