The other day I shared these fun and easy cards on my blog. And this photo reminded me that I should share with you my favorite new framelits/thinlits die holder. Why this photo? Because the company that makes my die holder also makes many other fabulous crafting supply storage units (a few that are pictured in the background here).
When I remodeled last December, I threw out many things that just weren't working for me anymore. And one of them was an album in which I stored my thin dies. (Click here to see that album that I shared 3 years ago.) The magnetic sheets where great, and it was nice to be able to have all my framelits and thinlits in one spot. But over time, the plastic sleeves weren't strong enough to hold the heavy magnet sheets and metal dies. Eventually holes formed at the bottom of the pocket pages.
This is what I store my thin dies in now.
I LOVE that I can just open the cover and flip through to find the set of dies I need quickly and easily. I could do a bit more to REALLY organize them like actually use the dividers that came with the magnets to categorize my framelits and thinlits. But I guess I haven't gotten around to that yet. Hahaha! Maybe it's because I keep getting new ones? Look the the right…more sets to add to my collection! It's time to order more magnet sheets, right?
You can see that even if I haven't use my dividers yet (they are all in the back right now), I at least have kept the die sets with their informational sheet that came with them when I bought them.
So all I have to do it thumb through to find the exact set I need.
I've also seen this great idea out there, too…adding a magnet sheet to the inside of a coordinating stamp set container. But the worry I have there is that sometimes there is more than one stamp set that coordinates with a set of dies. Or sometimes a set of dies is too general (like the Layering Squares pictured above) and doesn't really go with any set in particular. So the Stamp-n-Storage Wafer Die Storage and Magnetic Sheets system works best for me. I can find all the dies I own in one place. I can even thumb through quickly and see what else I might want to use on a project. If they were all tucked away in stamp set containers, I would have to try to remember where they all were.

Hi I just love the organisation as I am planning my craft room it is still a bit of a mess but better than it was so love the storage ideas, and magnet sheets for your dies brilliant thank you for sharing xx Jill
Thanks Jill! Best wishes with your new room.
I put mine in the stamp boxes as well. To know that you have more than one stamp set per die, I use a color coded system. I use Colored flower stickers (same color) on each set that coordinates with that die. I also do that with punches as well. I use colored hearts for everything that goes with that punch.
You sound organized! Great tips. Glad you found something that works for you. 🙂
Thank you for your idea about storing dies. Last night I ordered 10 packs of the 8.5 x 11 sheets and I will cut them in half and that will work for me. I have tried many ways but for the stampin up ones your idea is great.
Thanks again
Barbara
Glad you enjoyed my die storage idea. Thanks Barbara.
