Thoughtful Branches Apple Tree Card

My boys and I did the last of our shopping yesterday in preparation for school, and we are all set for the start of a new year. What a relief to have all that out of the way. I know some schools have started their 2016-17 year already. We don't start until the day after Labor Day. But it's nice to be done with all the shopping and the trying on of clothes. And can I just add?…Wow, do kids grow fast! The clothes that they were "swimming" in last spring are perfect for them now. crazy.

I put together this card recently when I was playing around with the Thoughtful Branches bundle preparing cards for my upcoming themed card class for early September. This one didn't make the cut, so I can share it with you today. It actually reminds me of a card that could be given to a teacher. So there! Here are some measurements and tips that you may find useful if you feel like recreating this card.

Measurements:

• Crumb Cake Cardstock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" folded in half for the card base
• Whisper White Cardstock: 4-7/8" x 3-5/8" and 4-3/4" x 3-1/2" for the inside
• Real Red Cardstock: 4-3/4" x 3-1/2"
• Wild Wasabi Cardstock: 4-5/8" x 3-3/8"
• Garden Green Cardstock: scraps with torn edges

Tips:

• Stamp the tree trunk, then attach a big scrap of Garden Green which will become the base tree top layer. Trim the edges of the Garden Green to match up with the edges of the Wild Wasabi.
• Stamp the sentiment on this base piece of Garden Green. Then layer on (and trim up) a couple other Garden Green scraps to form a full tree.
• After assembling all the layers (the white layer is attached to the card base with Dimensionals), then add the "apples." Make the apples by coloring some large rhinestones with with a red Sharpie® marker. Color these before adding them to the card (while they are still on the rhinestone sheet).
