I really enjoyed this past month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. Hopefully you saw the fun hamburger projects I came up with and shared on June 29th. Did you do that blog hop? If you go to the June 29th post and scroll down, you can find links to lots of other fun ideas other demonstrators created using the contents of the June 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit. Then on July 1st I shared four more “outside the box” ideas that I created with this kit.
Today I have more fun ideas to share using the contents of the One In a Melon kit (and a few extra supplies/products from my online store.) And just in time, too! Because tomorrow is the 10th…the last day of the month to sign up if you want the next kit. And I have to tell you, you will WANT this next kit…the July kit! Trust me. That’s all I’m sayin’. 😉
Enjoy!
CANDY FRUIT SLICES CARDS & TREAT BAGS
I really enjoyed this June 2017 One in a Melon kit. I’m a fan of any stamp set with fruit in it. So I jumped up and down with joy when I saw the yummy watermelon slice images in the kit’s stamp set. Then…right away I thought “I can turn these slices into those candy fruit slices and sprinkle on Dazzling Diamonds glitter for the sugar!!”
Do you know how hard it was to find this actual candy, though!? Holy cow!! I finally found it at at place not far from my house this past Wednesday: Amy’s Confections. And that’s when I was able to complete a project with the stamped and glittered images that I had made two weeks ago.
As quickly as I created these and photographed them though, I gave them to my boys. And they candy disappeared almost instantly!
To make the glitter paper candy, I opened up an envelope in the kit and stamped four “fruit slices.” I used Melon Mambo (“stamping off” on scrap paper first to get the lighter center) and Emerald Envy for the pink and green. And I used Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight for the orange and yellow.
After stamping and cutting & punching them out with the 2-1/4″ Circle punch, I turned them each upside-down onto a Multipurpose adhesive sheet to get them sticky.
Then I added the sugar! (Oops..I mean the glitter.)
Whenever I put a topper onto a filled cellophane bag, I staple it so the back of the staples are facing forward. That way the back of the bag is nicer looking and doesn’t have any sharp prongs coming out. Then I cover the staples on the front with the decorations.
These are gusseted cellophane bags, so you can open them up pretty wide. You can even flatten out the bottom by inserting a piece of cardstock (or in this case a piece of 2″ x 2-7/8″ Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate). That way they stand up well when filled.
I wanted just plain white cards so my candy slices would be more prominent.
I added metallic enamel shapes (hearts) to both the cards and the candy bags. But even though they are self-adhesive, the hearts wouldn’t stay on the glittered candy slices on the cards. So I had to use a little Fine Tip Glue.

AN ALTERNATE VERSION OF THE GIFT BOX
After cutting off the top two inches from one of my boxes to make my candle that I shared on July 1st, I decided to decorate my short left-over box. And this is what I came up with. Super simple…super adorable for gift-giving.
To get the longer label piece for the sentiment, I cut a strip of 3/8″ wide Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and inserted it into the bottom of the punch like this. Then I stamped the words, added it to the front of my box, and trimmed off the excess.
In this photo below I have the box I just shared above next to the box the kit instructs you to make. They look pretty good together and could be given with “yummies” inside as a gift set.
And these are just a couple more photos of the box the kit instructs you to make. I loved this kit!
