I’ve been playing with the new Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder tools (an embossing folder and coordinating set of dies) which is debuting in the Jan-June 2022 Mini Catalog on January 4th and came up with three different kind of card designs so far.
This first one is basically made from 2 pieces of 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Basic White Cardstock and 5″ of Polished Pink Sheer Open Weave.
Hybrid embossing folders sandwich the coordinating die/s within so your cardstock cuts and embosses at the same time! So in the end it looks like there is more to your card because of the cuts and texture.
I used Blending Brushes with Bermuda Bay and Mango Melody to give a gradient look to the front outer-heart layer and to add a randomly colored backdrop under the all white heart when the card is open.
The two layers of white cardstock are connected at the top above the 1/2″ scoreline.
And the Polished Pink ribbon tied around to the left of the heart’s window brings out the pink hues in the Iridescent Rhinestones (another new product debuting in the Jan-June 2022 Mini Catalog on January 4th).
Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store. Those that are not available yet are only listed.
The second card took a little less time. I made 30 of these for the members of my Online Paper Crafters Club. It’s a more simplified version of the first one I shared. But this looks lends itself well to a wedding or anniversary card since the all white front has a more delicate facade.
To recreate you would just need a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic White scored in the middle at 5-1/2″ and one 3″ length of ribbon (I used Pale Papaya Open Weave on one and Pool Party Sheer on another). It’s the same idea, but you just have to position the embossing folder so that the side (instead of the seam) is entering the rollers of the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine first.
I used Blending Brushes with Bermuda Bay and Pale Papaya to add a randomly colored backdrop under the all white heart when the card is open. And the knot of ribbons are added with Glue Dots.
My third card is much bolder and has a lot less white. Hahaha! Quite different than the others but with a similar layout. For this one I used a 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock scored halfway at 5-1/2″ for the base, a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White for the inner layer, and two pieces of Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon (about 2″ and about 4″).
To get the black background on the front of the card, I inked up the “background” side of my embossing folder really well with Tuxedo Memento Ink. Then I laid my die in the groves…
…sandwiched my Bermuda Bay Cardstock within, and (without moving or shifting that cardstock) ran it through the machine to emboss, imprint the color, and die-cut all at the same time.
I then positioned my white layer inside with just a bit of temporary adhesive (or a tiny bit of adhesive to just hold it still), closed the card, and stamped my sentiment so it lined up within the heart window. I recommend using a photopolymer stamp set. I used a sentiment from the Flowering Tulips Stamp Set (another soon-to-be-new product).
Once that is stamped, use the piercing end of your Take Your Pick Tool and mark where you’ll be adding the two outer brads that will hold the folded pink ribbon. Feel free to bring the piercer though a bit to mark the white layer. This could help guide you when you add the two brads to that layer as well.
Now add a couple Iridescent Rhinestones, mark where you will add the two brads, then remove the white layer.
Fold a ribbon, re-pierce from the back coming out the front to open a hole in the ribbon, and add the brad. Do the same to the other side.
Add a couple brads to the white layer.
And attach the inside layer.
I hope you enjoyed what I shared today. Did you have a favorite card?
