Are you familiar with Stampin’ Up!’s new kit line: Kits Collection? It’s an offering only available online (not in catalogs) to allow for quick additions of new kits when ready and the possible deletion of sold out kits without the issue of backorders. I have to say that I’m very pleased that popular, sold out kits are being replenished, though. The Notes of Cheer kit was sold out in the US market but is now back!

And the Christmas Whimsy kit did not disappear but instead has been marked as “currently unavailable.” So it should be coming back in the US market as well. Yay!

The kits are all-inclusive and easy DIY projects. You get Stampin’ Up!’s high quality products at affordable prices, too. Great for crafting-on-the-go and for those that don’t have the space, time, and/or budget for a craft room of supplies.
After putting together the adorable cards in the Christmas Whimsy kit from the Kits Collection, I used what was left over and got creative. The negatives (the paper that the elves and other die-cut images were punched from) made great stencils. I just lined up the stencil onto my folded note card, masked that area off with sticky notes, and used a Blending Brush to apply the ink.

I even added in another color ink to change it up a bit AND did a two-tone version for my third card. The leftovers included several gold star stickers and a bit of gold trim. So of course, I had to use those.

Because there were four extra labels, I brought in a bit more from my personal stash (the Painted Christmas Designer Paper, Evening Evergreen Cardstock, and some extra Basic White Cardstock) to make this card.

Products I used… See below for a complete list of products linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements for designer paper background card…
- Evening Evergreen Cardstock
- 5-1/2” x 8-1/2″ scored parallel to short side at 4-1/4”
- Painted Christmas Designer Paper
- 4” x 5-1/4”
- Basic White Cardstock
- 4” x 5-1/4”

I also had other “stencils.” So with the help of more sticky notes and copy paper to mask again…

…this is another card I made. This Basic White card base is not one of the note cards. I cut it myself. It measures 5-1/2” x 8-1/2″ scored parallel to short side at 4-1/4”. You can pair this size card up with the Basic White Medium Envelopes.

I used an extra tag shaped label and more designer paper and cardstock (same measurements as above) to make this card. To get the fringed trim, cut a length about 5″ long, pull all the threads apart, then hold them altogether as if they are one again, thread them through, and tie the knot. You get more sparkle when they are fringy like this. OH! And if you noticed in the card above, I used silver trim. I got this from the pack of Simply Elegant Trim (which includes gold and silver).

So don’t throw away those extras. There are always more possibilities if you think outside the box.
My next kit to assemble is the Love, Santa Tag Kit. (I’ve got all my pieces punched out and ready to go.) It’s the newest in the line and also can be paired up with the Love, Santa Treat Bags – purchase together OR separately. Fun, fun, fun!
