Hummingbirds frequent my parents’ place. My mom and dad love to bird watch, so they have bird feeders all over. I had intended on taking a photo of the hummingbirds when I was up there this last week, and I forgot in my super relaxed state of mind. So my mom kindly sent me one yesterday. Thanks mom! Those little birds move super fast, so I’m impressed that she got such a clear photo.
Here are the cards I am sending out to my club members as a thank you for their August orders. These hummingbird cards are super simple to make and really pretty much consist of beautiful designer papers, a small strand of ribbon and a stamped sentiment.
Products I used: See below for a complete list of products I used linked to where you can find them in my online store.
I started by only making these two.
And then I got crazy and made many more, because they were super easy. AND I wanted to see all the variations I could come up with since there are a variety of hummingbird images in the designer paper (see photo below) and lots of different ways to use the two different patterns of papers in the laser-cut pack. (The Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut Paper is a must-have! You can use it as a layer, an accent, a frame, or an embellishment on your cards and other paper crafting projects.)
To make one of the hummingbird cards…
Measurements:
- Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 7″ x 5″ scored at 3-1/2″ and folded in half for the card base (or use the Very Vanilla Note Cards which are pre-cut and scored already)
- Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon
- 8″ for the bow or 14″ if wrapping all the way around
Directions:
- Fussy-cut a humming bird.
- Cut out a section of the laser-cut paper either from the full floral sheet or a 3-1/5″ x 5″ section of the multi-frame/border sheet.
- Squeeze a small amount of Multipurpose Liquid Glue onto a Silicone craft sheet or piece of scrap paper. Dab it multiple times with a sponge to get a nice even thin coating of glue on the sponge. Flip over the laser-cut paper and sponge glue on the back side being careful not to move the paper while sponging at the risk of getting glue on the front side.
- Adhere laser-cut paper to card front. Press down evenly. Then trim off any excess that extends beyond the card.
- Stamp the sentiment.
- Add the hummingbird with Dimensionals.
- Add the ribbon. (Use a Glue Dot for attaching the bow.)
Here are more close-up photos of these cards to help you out if you wish to recreate any yourself.

Your cards are just beautiful! I’m like your parents…love to watch birds and especially the hummingbirds! Great picture that your Mom sent to you too!
Thanks so much Deanette. Yes…super grateful to mom for adding a great visual for us. 🙂
Beautiful cards, Rachael. About how many cards can you get from the Specialty Paper? Thanks!
Great question! I guess it depends on how you cut the floral papers (you get four sheets of each of those layouts). There are 34 full hummingbirds you can cut from two sheets in the full pack of mosaic paper.
