I love to change up kits and see how I can alter the contents to create new cards and projects. One of my favorite personal challenges is to take a kit and add only extra envelopes & a few sheets of added cardstock and then redesign the cards to get double the cards from one kit. I gave myself that exact challenge with the Lots of Happy all-inclusive card kit that is carrying over into the new catalog. (Yay!)
Here are the cards that this kit instructs how to make. (You get enough supplies to make 4 sets of these 5…so 20 altogether.)
And…Ta-da! Here is how the supplies for these cards changed into 10 just by me adding five Whisper White Medium Envelopes and three sheets of Basic Black 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock cut in half for the six extra card bases.
Fun, huh!?
So if you do the math, you can double the kit and get 40 cards with 20 (a half of a pack of) Whisper White Medium Envelopes and 12 sheets (a half of a pack) of Basic Black 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock. Plus, if you want to use up the other 1/2 packs to make 80 cards, you only need to buy the Lots of Happy Card Kit Refill.
In the US this would be the difference…
Making the kit as is (no alterations):
- 20 cards = $35…$35 for the Lots of Happy all-inclusive card kit
- 40 cards = $56…$35 for the Lots of Happy all-inclusive card kit + $21 for the Lots of Happy Card Kit Refill
Doubling the kit with the added cardstock and envelopes:
- 40 cards = $42.75…$35 for the Lots of Happy all-inclusive card kit + 1/2 pack Basic Black 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock ($4.25 value) + 1/2 pack of Whisper White Medium Envelopes ($3.50 value)
- 80 cards = $71.50…$35 for the Lots of Happy all-inclusive card kit + $21 for the Lots of Happy Card Kit Refill + $8.50 for the pack Basic Black 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock + $7 for the pack of Whisper White Medium Envelopes
Keep in mind these prices don’t include shipping/handling, tax and any extra adhesive and tools (optional Blender Pen, Paper Snips and Trimmer). Plus if you want to do watercoloring with a Blender Pen in any of the images you stamp, you may want to stamp those images with our returning StazOn Jet Black ink instead of just the ink that’s included with the kit.
Here are a few photos to show how the original card pieces converted to the new card designs. In this image below, the original card is in the lower right.
The originals in these next two photos are in the upper right.
And in this photo the two originals are in the upper left.
And why not take those extra images in the stamp set that’s included and add decorations on the insides of your cards?
Oh! The insides of my black cards are lined with the leftover large card bases and some of the other pieces flipped over that I didn’t use on the fronts.
This kit makes beautiful cards! And the coloring in of these flowers was so relaxing. I hope you enjoyed what I shared.

I agree, Rachel… this kit is an outstanding buy! I included cards from this kit in my crafting birthday party, and they were a hit! Your ideas to get more value out of the original kit is great… we are both on the same page.
Thanks Patricia! What did you do for your crafting birthday party?
These cards are amazing with the black! I have to admit I actually bought the kit for the watercolor pencils-the 2 other colors and I have not used them either. Well, maybe tonight I will get in a coloring mode and makes some of these cards up! I had to laugh when you added all the costs up etc. Well done!
Thanks so much Chris. 😉 Glad you like them…AND enjoyed my calculations. (I love math. hehehehe)
I pulled out the blender pens and had a great time. I put a little of the light night of navy on some of the petals at the base then used a night of navy backing. Trying to take photos so I can show you. Anyway, lots of fun and a bit more colorful.
How fun to play with the more color! I’d love to see them…stampyourartout@comcast.net
