Here are a few more versions of the Vertical Stretch fun-fold cards that I shared last week in my Facebook Live Online Paper Crafting Class but this time using the Myths & Magic designer paper and the Magical Day stamp set.
The measurements are similar to the Sweet Soirée cards I shared before, but the supplies are different. See below for a full list of supplies linked to where you can find them in my online store.
Measurements…
- Basic Black cardstock:
- 11” x 4-1/4” scored at 2-3/4”, 4-1/4”, 7-1/4” and 8-1/2”
- Whisper White cardstock:
- 4” x 2-1/4” for the bottom layer
- scrap for stamping and punching the 2″ circle
- Myths & Magic designer paper:
- 4” x 4” of busy pattern
- 4” x 4” of “calmer” pattern
- Myths & Magic glimmer paper:
- scrap for punching the starburst circle
- Basic Black 3/8” Shimmer ribbon:
- About 4-1/2”
I actually designed the Myths & Magic cards first and sent the supplies to make them to those in my Stampers With ART Community for our Online Facebook Team Gathering a couple weeks ago. Each participant received the pre-stamped, cut and scored supplies above for either the mermaid card, the knight card or the wizard card. And then I demonstrated how to assemble the cards during my online live broadcast. I also showed them a sample of each of those three versions and gave them tips and ideas for those variations. And it’s been really fun to see them post their finished cards afterwards!
One tip I shared was: To get the cardstock to adhere to the glimmer paper, punch a small hole (or two or three) in the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper piece, and attach the Dimensionals to BOTH the back of the glimmer paper AND the cardstock showing through the holes.
On this one I used the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to color my mermaid’s hair and Stampin’ Blends markers to color the rest of her.
It looks like I used more than 4-1/2 inches of ribbon on this card, but look what I did on the back.
I also used the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker for this handsome wizard.
But up close you can see the streaks. Wonder if Stampin’ Up! will be coming out with a Basic Black Stampin’ Blends Marker someday soon. I think it would be well received, as I’ve found I’ve wanted one often just in my short few months coloring with our fabulous new alcohol-based markers
On this card I substituted the Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon with about 7 inches of the Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Shimmer Ribbon (one of 3 rolls in a Sale-a-Bration freebie ribbon pack). I’m going to really miss this ribbon when it leaves the end of this month. I also added Wink of Stella to her body to make her sparkle. Although this photo doesn’t really show that too well.
On this card, I left some areas of the knight’s armor white to give a super shiny silver look. And I once again used some Stampin’ Write Markers (Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide) for the shield and plume since we don’t have Blends in those colors…yet. Can you tell I really hope that this marker line will expand!? 😉
I wanted a black border to show when the card was closed. So I tucked half of my shimmer ribbon under the bottom edge of the top paper layer. To get…
…this look.
This last version is a bit different than the other five shown above. The black cardstock is scored at the same spots, but I just folded the card in differently and sliced the designer paper pieces down a bit to fit on the panels. AND because the card has a slight gap in the middle when closed, I filled that in with the Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon extending out from under the right Whisper White panel.
I also added a few rhinestones that I colored with the Light Bermuda Bay Blends Marker and some Tutti-Frutti adhesive-backed sequins.
Which of these 6 cards was your favorite?
