Yay! It’s time again to see lots of alternate Paper Pumpkin kit ideas!
#APaperPumpkinThing
Today is the day where a creative team of us Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators bring to you our special “A Paper Pumpkin Thing” blog hop. See what I have to share, then check out all the other blogs in the hop to see additional creative alternate paper crafting project ideas that we each came up with using the contents of the March 2018 “May Good Things Grow” Paper Pumpkin kit. To follow the hop, simply scroll down to click the “next” button or click on the names of other participants in the hop.
This month’s kit is very beautiful and has a vintage flair! Click here to see the March kit video put out by Stampin’ Up! where you can view how to make these floral cards and envelopes as intended.
I’ve already shared several of my creations in a couple past posts using the contents of this kit. So I invite you to check out those creations as well:

But today I have a couple fun-fold card ideas for those of you who like to give cards that “wow.”
This first card is a Vertical Stretch fun-fold card. I shared how to make this style card on Facebook and posted the video and photos on March 17th. The card folds shut to a typical 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ size.
But when it opens it stretches to 4-1/4″ x 11″ and shows off two pieces of 4″ x 4″ designer paper – or in this case two pieces of 4″ x 4″ papers from the envelopes. (The scores on the Early Espresso card base are at 2-3/4″, 4-1/4″, 7-1/4″ and 8-1/2.”)
This is how the folds look from a side view.
And if you didn’t notice, the second 4″ x 4″ piece isn’t all one piece. I wanted the entire frame design from the envelope paper, so I trimmed the top two inches and the bottom two inches and discarded the middle section.
To get the “doily” embellishment, I attached a section from the fancy label so it peeked out from the bottom of the rose paper layer. I also added brads to the bottom two corners of the frame paper layer and the top two corners of the rose paper layer. Notice how I pressed down the prongs? Angling them to an “L” shape when flattening them in the back will keep them from showing from the front.
This second card is a Pop Open fun-fold card. It’s free-standing!
I created it by opening up on envelope, positioning it in the trimmer as shown, and trimming the solid colored area 3 inches from the bottom edge.
Then I removed those top sections.
Next I folded the larger side flap over and scored through the middle of this 4-inch wide card.
I attached the shorter side flap to the larger. The envelope is now inside out from where it first started. Then I trimmed off the bottom flap and made sure it stood up sturdy.
I cut two 1-inch wide slits through the middle 1-1/2″ inches down from the top and 2″ down from the top. I then placed four more score lines (all 1/4″ apart) in this section to create a pop out tab.
I added a Dimensional to the middle to keep the middle crease from folding and to allow the label piece a little more of a lift.
And then I just embellished with with a couple Gold Mini Tassels and die-cuts from the kit.

(And now I want to come eat at your house. LOL)
Your vertical stretch card is such a great way to layer all the pretty designer paper…or in this case the pretty designer envelopes.
Thanks Sara! Glad you like the idea. And it was so good to meet you in Hartford this weekend!
