Yesterday morning I took my boys, Nicholas and Luke and their friend, Carter four hours north up to my parents' lake home (the cabin). We arrived a little before 1 PM, unpacked, ate lunch and then swam for most of the afternoon. The weather was beautiful all day!
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping we can stay for a few more days. And we'll do so as long as I can stay relaxed up here and heal from last Monday's surgery.
I have a super easy card to share today.
I'm obsessed with the Colorful Seasons Bundle (the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set and the Seasonal Layers Thinlits)! And I have to share yet one more idea…this sweet & simple note card that I made using the stamp set, a couple inks and some embellishments.
All I did was ink up the solid leaf image in Old Olive ink, stamp it onto scrap paper first to remove some of the ink, and then stamp it onto the front of the Whisper White note card. I then stamped the coordinating outline leaf image on top of the solid one with full Old Olive ink.
I stamped the sentiment on the inside of the card with Berry Burst ink. And then I added a few Glitter Enamel Dots to both the front and inside.
That. Is. It.
So easy and still so pretty.

This card message is very fitting in my world today.
Today is my birthday. I turned 49!! YAY!!!
Did I really just say "yay?"
I struggle with aging daily. It's hard to look in the mirror and see my skin and hair changing. It's hard to look back on photos from 10 years ago in our photo albums and be reminded that I'm losing my youthful appearance. And I think many people can relate to these same struggles with aging when they get to their 40's and beyond.
I do what I can. I exercise, eat super healthy and clean, avoid many things that are toxic, etc…
BUT… on the other hand I am VERY grateful to have had 49 years so far. And though I will only grow older, I hope to have many, many, MANY more birthdays!!! I want to see my boys grow into adulthood and see what paths they take. I want to travel more places and experience more. I want to learn more and try more. I want to celebrate more anniversaries with my dear husband, Tim. I have lots more on my bucket list.
So today I will enjoy my birthday and be thankful for all that I have been blessed with.
Happy Birthday Rachel! I hope you have an absolutely fabulous day! You’re actually only one day older than you were yesterday š
A very happy birthday, Rachel! You have found a beautiful way to live your life, and I wish you many, many more years of enjoyment.
Sweet note card, Rachel. I echo all of your “aging” sentiments. I turned 70 two weeks ago, and I have to admit it’s the first birthday that made me gasp. How could I have already used up 70 years of my time on earth?! And, how wonderful that I’ve had 70 years on earth! I, like you, am grateful for all my years and hoping for more. At any rate, I’m enjoying life each day; and I look with awe on my family. Our oldest son turned 40 the day after I turned 70, and I know he feels as young at his age as I do at mine. I wish you many more healthy happy years. As your friend Susan said, you’re actually only one day older than you were yesterday. Have another beautiful year. XO
Happy Birthday!! What a wonderful way to celebrate your day by relaxing at the lake. Enjoy! I will be 49 in January so I understand what you are saying about aging:)
LOL! Love it. Yes,…just one day older. I love that perspective, too. Thanks Susan.
Thank you so very much Kathy. <3 You are such a sweetheart!
Thank you Gail! Hugs to you. And happy birthday to you, too!!
š thanks Tracy!
Happy Birthday, Rachel. That is a great attitude. Every decade I started seemed to be hard to accept. I wanted to cling to the decade I was in. LOL. But you are right, it is a blessing to continue to be living and doing what you love to do. Unless you get older, that cannot happen. May this be the start of a new blessed year in your life.
Happy Birthday!!!?????. Continued improvement from your surgery. Being near water, whether by the ocean or the lake, is always a good place to be.
Happy Happy Birthday! Resting at the lake with the boys sounds like good medicine–from the surgery and the thoughts of aging. Yes, consider the alternative and be thankful for each sign of aging. They are few and your blessings many. (My signs are many more but my blessings are many too.
We not only share a birthday but also I’m a SU demonstrator. For me this is my hobby since retiring from teaching 30+ years ago. So I’m wishing you many more happy birthdays.
Thanks so much Kathy! Hugs to you. <3
I think so too…so calming. Thanks Carole!
Someone I graduated high school with just passed away a day or two before my birthday. It was so sad to hear this news…the 7th person from a class of 120. It’s so sad that they all had such little time on earth.
Hugs and continued blessings to you, Susan! And thanks for the sweet message.
Well…happy birthday to you too, Jean! Wow! We have much in common. (And could’ve had more had I stayed in teaching…only taught for 13 years before I decided to stay at home with my babies.)
