Here is a card I made using the Lift Me Up stamp set and the Up & Away Thinlits. My friend, Karen put the idea of a "stained glass" look from this large balloon into my mind. So here is the card that became of that idea! (Thanks Karen.)
It's a z-fold card.
Measurements:
- Basic Black Cardstock: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" folded in half for card base and scored one more time parallel to middle fold at 2-1/8" inches in from one side, 2-5/8" x 5-1/8", 2-1/2" x 5" and scraps for die-cutting two of the balloons.
- Pool Party Cardstock: 3" x 4-7/8" and two 1" x 2-3/8"pieces for placing behind the balloons.
- Urban Underground Designer Series Paper: 5-3/8" x 2"
- Pumpkin Pie Cardstock: scraps for die-cutting balloon "fill-in layers" (the dies that make this layer come with the set)
- Bermuda Bay Cardstock: scraps for die-cutting balloon "fill-in layers" (the dies that make this layer come with the set)
- Peekaboo Peach Cardstock: scraps for die-cutting balloon "fill-in layers" (the dies that make this layer come with the set)
- Sweet Sugarplum Cardstock: scraps for die-cutting balloon "fill-in layers" (the dies that make this layer come with the set)
- Rich Razzleberry Cardstock: scraps for die-cutting balloon "fill-in layers" (the dies that make this layer come with the set)
- Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon: 4-7/8"
- Pool Party Satin Stitched Ribbon: two pieces that are about 4" each
Tips/Directions:
- Die-cut the two balloon outline shapes and the balloon fill-in layers.
- Trim the inside out of the 2-1/2" x 5" Basic Black piece so it becomes a frame that measures 1/4" all the way around. Attach the balloons to this frame (as shown). This is what the back side of that frame with the added balloons should look like. Then trim away any excess balloon parts.
- Add the layers behind each balloon. I find it easiest to sponge on adhesive from the Multipurpose Glue to the backside of the outline piece first. And then I attach my fill-in layers.
- Add the Pool Party cardstock behind the balloons (as shown).
- Adhere all of this to the 2-5/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic Black. Then fold one of the Pool Party ribbons in half at a slight angle and attach to the back upper left edge. (Trim ends.) Phew! The hardest part is over.
- Stamp the 3" x 4-7/8" Pool Party piece – the sentiment in Basic Black ink and the hot air balloon images in Pool Party ink that has been stamped off to get the lighter blue color. Attach one of the Pool Party ribbon pieces across the bottom of this wrapping around the excess to the back side. Then attach the Peekaboo Peach ribbon to the back side of the left edge.
- Add this layer to the inside of the card base piece.
- Now attach the designer paper piece to the card base piece and add the balloon layer on the right edge of this section so that when the card is closed it fills in the right half of the card front. Watch the adhesive then attaching the balloon layer…it only needs to be along that one edge that will be in contact with the designer paper.
I love the end result and can't wait to give this as a birthday card soon!

It’s all I can say 😉
LOL…thanks Carmen. This one was a little more detailed than I normally get.
It’s absolutely stunning!! It seems a bit complicated. Would you consider doing a video tutorial for this gorgeous card PLEASE.
Thanks for sharing!
Great idea, Fita! I’ll put that idea on a post it note and try to do that soon.
Loved it, Thank you!
Thanks Lavonne! And I loved your “take” on it. It’s been busy here, but I am planning on creating a quick how to video and then posting that along with photos of YOUR card some day very soon. (I may have to wait a bit though…kiddos are on spring break.)
