I love the look of heat embossed "metallic on metallic." The look is so striking, so I ended up using this technique to embellish two silver pails that became plant holder accent pieces in my craft room.
I stamped a dragonfly from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set onto a scrap of Silver Foil paper using VersaMark ink and then sprinkled on the Silver Embossing powder. After tapping off the excess powder, I used the Heat Tool to melt the powder (heat emboss). And this was the result.
I then trimmed out a shape to match the frame (thankfully I had another piece that was already that size – saved from when we had a punch that matched that frame shape).
The silver frame shown above is a retired Stampin' Up! product that I had been saving – one for each pail. I curved each frame around its pail, marked the holes, and punched them with a Crop-o-dile tool so brads could go through.
And this is where my plant holders sit. One is above my computer/work area in the office side of my room…my NEW room (which is officially complete as of yesterday…a bunch of photos will come next week).
And one is above my work area on the crafting side of the room.
Oh! And did you see my fun storage pieces for my ink pads, markers, and 12×12 papers in the craft side of my room photo? Stamp-n-Storage, the company that makes them just announced a new product! I think I may have to get one to intermix a few drawers with my 12×12 paper holders.

Oh, no! Now I need to shop at Stamp-n-Storage again! I am with you in “needing” the drawer cabinets! I absolutely love how your room has come together! Can’t wait to see the finished project!
Rachel,
The metallic on metallic is really beautiful. Love the plant holder.
Question about the stamp-n-storage – I just received 2 units. Did you spray paint yours? They don’t come in white – correct???
Thanks.
You rest for now though. I will see you soon, Brenda!
Thanks, Gerri!
Yippee! Which units did you get? We painted ours, but I don’t recommend latex (water-based) paint. We used that and had some “wood swelling” issues. Spray paint is what was recommended when I called them to Stamp-n-Storage. We commissioned a professional painter, but she didn’t use spray paint because she thought it would get too expensive. 🙁 Anyways long story short…we weren’t happy with the results and had to do some repairing. Stamp-n-Storage will be sharing painting tips on their website soon.
Rachael,
That for the painting tip. I will definitely spray paint them. I bought the lock down punch holder & the stamp pad combo. We are moving to a +55 community in July and I’m getting a brand new Craft Room. So excited! I’m a demonstrator and hoping to get some card class customers down there. (Little Egg Harbor, NJ)
So exciting! It’s always fun to move into a brand new crafting space!! Best wishes with the start of your new classes after the move, too!
Thanks Rachel!!
