Wow! My new craft room/office area is coming together. And I'm loving it all! I'm so excited I am inviting strangers inside to see it – people purchasing my old pieces that I've advertised on Craigslist.
My kids are doing great dealing with a very cluttered house, construction noises, and busy parents and grandparents. My husband is helping out as much as he can with the room remodel, AND he is maintaining the household – running errands, doing the laundry, keeping up with the dishes, and even helping me set up my new printer since my old one decided to quit on me just as this whole project began. And my parents are the best!…They are investing all their time and energy into helping me make this happen. I couldn't have done it without my dad's skills, talents, TOOLS, know-how. My mom and I just do whatever we can do throughout each day to help make it happen.
Before the official remodel began, I had to remove everything. Everything went downstairs to my classroom area and my old furniture/cabinetry went out to the garage.
My parents arrived early last week. And we officially began the renovations on the Wednesday, December 9th. (Our goal is to be done by the 19th.)
Wednesday, Day 1 – removed the last of the big furniture, tore out the carpeting, scraped and sanded the floor (UGH! Not fun), and began rewiring the electrical outlets.
Smiling because we were caught sweeping together (hehehe).
Thursday, Day 2 – measured and drew out where the cabinetry would be so we wouldn't have to paint in unnecessary places, received the HUGE delivery from Ikea (this photo doesn't even show 1/2 of it), finished the outlets, and began painting.
Friday, Day 3 – finished painting the walls (including the connecting hallway), insulated and began reinstalling and sanding the ledge boards
Saturday, Day 4 – sanded and painted the ledge and window trim & assembled/installed a few wall cabinet pieces.
I'm not a fan of using painter's tape.
The first cabinet going in was a celebration!
Sunday, Day 5 – worked more on the craft room side wall cabinets, finished painting and installing the ledge and window trim, and got started on the flooring!!
Only 5 more days left to do the rest! Crossing my fingers that we can get it done by this Friday.

Thanks, Meg! (Fun nickname name creation)
I’m not sure if I have met Sherron. I just celebrated my 16th anniversary with SU yesterday. So I may have met her at an event during all those years. 🙂 Thanks for your comment! Yep. The room is almost complete. Painting some final touchups today and putting up the clock. Yea!!
