The new Spider Web Doilies are one of my favorite new products in the Holiday Catalog. They are shown on page 47. Check them out! At $4.50 for a package, they are just under 19 cents a piece. Nice!
I love how they look in these catalog samples…
But I wanted to share that they don't HAVE to be webs.
Here is a sample card that was shared at the Stampin' Up! Convention this summer.
Do you see the doily?
The designer just took the inside portion of the Spider Web Doily and embossed it to give it a gold tone. I made my own version of this card with the Vintage Leaves stamp set. But instead of embossing over the black doily, I flipped it over to the white side and sponged on color from the Crushed Curry ink pad.
(Oh my gosh. Ignore the paper that is coming up in the bottom right corner.)
And then so show that the web doily didn't have to look scary, I just kept it intact in this version of that same card. I think it looks striking this way.
Here is a glimpse at disected Spider Web Doilies to demonstrate other designs you could get from this fun accent piece. I see snowflakes or medallions, a crown, an arrow, a fleur de lis, a bird flying off, a scarier spider web, and a sparse feather. I'd love to know what you come up with.
