In just 7 days I'll be at one of favorite places with some of my favorite people! Yippee! I have a LOT of photos waiting to be scrapbooked, and the best time for me to do it is on one of my crafting retreats. I can't wait for the fun and creativity to begin!
Crafting retreats are pretty popular here in the Midwest. Most scrapbookers I know have been on (or at least been invited to attend) a retreat weekend. In fact the movie, New In Town, mocks how much we love scrapbooking here in the "tundra." LOL
I try to get as many pages done as I can. Some ladies treat themselves to walks and visits to shops in the nearby town, but I set my goals high. (I have a work-a-holic personality.) Thankfully the pages that I create for my monthly classes provide for me a great stack of "base" layouts to start with. Sometimes I rearrange a layout a bit to work better with the photos I am adding, but sometimes I just simply attach photos, add the journaling, and I'm done! This is one set of pages that I probably won't be needing to change much…
I love this layout, because I can really add any number of and any size photos. And if I can't find New Year's photos in my stack of pictures, I can always create a new title strip.
I used the new Aquamarine Chalk Pad on our new Chalkboard Paper for the "New Year!" title banner. This ink goes really well with our Bermuda Bay card stock, ink and accessories.
With shiny embellishments throughout the layout, I photographed it at different angles show off the glitziness a bit more. Okay,…I always take more photos than I need to.
I love this Celebrate Today stamp set. It has several images that work with so many celebrations – baby, birthday, graduation, wedding, etc.
Some tips for recreating these pages:
- To get the strips of papers to extend fully at an angle, just cut the strips at an angle from the 12×12 designer paper.
- Add the individual sequins and the sequin trim with glue dots.
- To get the 2 shades of yellow and 2 shades of blue, simply "stamp off." (Stamp the image on scrap paper. Then without re-inking, stamp the image again onto your project paper.)
- Stamp the title with chalk ink on the darkest, least shiny side of the chalkboard paper.
This isn't the best photo, but I thought it showed the full layout in a little bit better light.
Oooo!! Wanna see the February Paper Pumpkin kit? Mine just came in the mail last night!
