Eeekkkk! A shark!
Luke loves "extreme" animals. So for his birthday party this month we made everything shark-related. The only thing that we DIDN'T do (that he asked for) was to play the movie, Jaws.
So this was the birthday card I made for him. It looks a little like Jaws, wouldn't you say?
Here are the measurements for the card stock I used:
- Soft Sky: 4-1/4" x 11" folded in half at 5-1/5"
- Island Indigo: 4-1/4" x 5"
- Bermuda Bay: 4-1/4" x 3"
- Real Red: small scrap for the small oval punch
- Smoky Slate: small scrap for the large oval punch
- Whisper White: 4" x 5-1/4" for the inside of the card & a sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" sheet to go through the printer for the sentiment. (After printing, just cut the phrase out with the paper trimmer and attach to the front.)
(All supplies are listed below.)
The teeth and eyes are just drawn on using the Project Life Black Journaling pen and the Signo White Gel pen. I used the scallop edgelit to cut the card stock to look like rough water.

I thought I'd also share a couple other items I made for his birthday using Stampin' Up! products… These were the party favor buckets (contents: goldfish crackers, gummy sharks, designer paper-wrapped Mentos mints to represent bubbles in the water, and a toy shark) that we gave to his party guests. The Open Sea stamp set I knew would be perfect for making the tags.
I also pulled out my Alphabet rotary stamp so I could personalize each tag. I love the look of silver embossing on silver paper! And with the font and imperfection of the letters in this stamp, it gives this tag a look of aged, embossed metal.

One more item that I made for Luke's shark party is the invitation. But this time I used Stampin' Up!'s digital MDS program and created it using a few ideas I found on Pinterest. (If you haven't taken part in Pinterest yet, you have got to check it out! It's like having a magazine of all your favorite things right in one spot. I can't tell you how much I love Pinterest (I'm obsessed)! The party invite, the cupcakes, the watermelon shark, the birthday card, party favor treat ideas… I was inspired by so many that share their creativity and ideas! It was a wonderful, "jawsome" birthday party weekend. So glad for those that were able to celebrate with us.
What great party ideas! Love them all. I’m sure he thinks he has the coolest mom, ever (until he’s a teenager, at least!)
LOL!…Thanks, Kelly.
