A couple years ago I got this fabulous card from fellow demonstrator, Trina Kuriger as a swap, and it had the most beautiful bow on the front.
The bow was made with wide ribbon but didn't have a huge knot in the center. It was very easy to make, too – a faux bow.
So with the new wide ribbon we now carry in our BRAND NEW Occasions Catalog (either the Summer Starfruit 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain ribbon or the Pacific Point 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain ribbon) and a brad with long enough prongs to wrap around the middle and hold the layers of ribbon together (I used Antique Brads), you can make this card…
Do you think I took enough pictures? LOL
There are more.
Here are the new new ribbons we carry in our Occasions catalog.
Let me show you in photos how I made this card AND how to make this great bow. I embossed my colored cardstock, then sponged the edges with coordinating ink. In this case, I used Summer Starfruit card stock and ink to match the ribbon. Notice I also already stamped a flower from the NEW Simple Stems (wood-mount or clear-mount) and punched it out.
I cut the ribbon just long enough to wrap around the back and then slathered the back side with adhesive.
I pulled the ribbon up to tuck in the stamped image. See how I covered some words in the blue card image so the card can just be a general baby card? 🙂
For the bow, start with a loop,…
…pinch it down….
…take a brad with the prongs already opened wide….
…scrunch the center of the ribbon together tight,…
…and wrap the prongs around to secure the hold.
It's THAT easy!
Then just trim the ends of the ribbon and attach the faux bow with a dimensional.

Thanks so much for all the photos. I love both of your cards as well as the one you received. I love the idea of using the brads to create the bow. I will try this. I have some of this wider sized ribbon and just never quite knew what to do with it.
So glad my post inspired you, Chris. 🙂
