My club events were held this weekend. And all three of the class choices for my clubs had one thing in common – we all learned the chalkboard technique! It is easy and gives a fun look on a project.
For the Scrappin' Sunday class we made the following pages…
For Stamp Camp we made the following card…
And for What To Give class we made the following card and box set…
Thank you, Brenda Hukreide for giving me the swap card shown in the above photo. You inspired all of my classes this month! 🙂
Here's how to do the chalkboard technique.
Start with Basic Black card stock, Whisper White Craft ink, and a Stampin' Sponge.
Tap the sponge LIGHTLY 2-3 times on the white pad. This technique does not require much ink. Start from the edge of the black card stock and brush the white ink inward. After getting a few strokes of ink on the edge, move the sponge in a circular motion to blend and soften the ink.
Then you can either heat set the ink (with the heat gun) or rub the paper lightly with an Embossing Buddy. This step will keep the white ink from catching any flecks of embossing powder when doing the next step.
Stamp your image with VersaMark ink.
Add the White Stampin' Emboss powder, sprinkle and tap off any excess that doesn't stick to the VersaMark ink. Then heat with the Heat Tool.
Ta-da!
Here are some close-up photos of the projects…
